Past, Present and Future

Past_Present_and_ Future_MapsAndLanterns.orgNo right thinking individual sets out to live a life without purpose. However, when we deliberately fail to focus on our purpose for being on this planet we establish patterns that likely lead us away from the reason we were born. Understanding how our past, present and future connect reveals how we can live our best life.

Not by Accident

Almighty God is an on purpose, all knowing being. He is also a loving God, so loving in fact that He is love. Indeed He is perfect. He created each of us as part of His plan. Each of us has a place in His plan since before the foundation of the earth. The foundation of the earth put in place by Him.

He produced the alignment of the planets, the placement of the sun and the moon. He made zebras without repeating the same stripe pattern. His attention to detail includes placing more than 200 muscles in the neck of one caterpillar. He created each of us uniquely too. Each one of us so different that not even our fingerprints are shared.

None of this came about by accident. It was a part of His plan. His thoughts are above our thoughts, and we do not know all of the nuances of His plan.

This magnificent God has a plan for each of us. We were made in His image to suit His purpose. Inherent in each of us are gifts. Those gifts are bestowed upon us to help us to carry out His will for each of us, which is our purpose. Since He knew what each of us would face He equipped us with tools to be successful.

Deliberate Action

In order for us to discover what those gifts are and how to use them we are to bond with Him by connecting ourselves to the past, present and future. What every your age or season of life your gifts are evident and part of you now. Those gifts were placed within you by the time you were born. He has already released that part of His plan within you.

It is now our responsibility and privilege to be blessed by revealing those gifts in the application of His will during our lives.

That revelation does not come from a fortune cookie or a caviler comment made by a stranger. It comes directly from within us. As we connect with the past, present and future. When we examine ourselves our gifts are revealed. Yes others can help us through the examination process. They can help us to remove the veil from our own eyes. However, our Creator wants us to have a relationship with Him.

When we take deliberate action God reveals His plan for use of those gifts to us individually. He knows us so well that He knows how to reach us. He knew how to equip us and how to help us connect the dots.

Past, Present and Future

If you are not clear what your purpose is, or if you want to affirm you are on target, acknowledging the past, focusing in the present and embracing the future are key.

What triumphs of your past have you overcome because of your strengths? Over what did you persevere seemingly, against all odds? What are you naturally good at that takes you minimal effort?

What have you practiced for a long time? What do you perform with excellence repeatedly? What would you rather do if neither time nor money were a factor? What would you be able to do if you were awakened in the middle of the night, without missing a beat? In what area can you take a leadership role and assist others to develop.

What do you imagine yourself doing in the future? What do you want to accomplish in the future? What is your dream? Does your life seem to be unfulfilled? How can you give more of what God has given to you to meet the needs of others? What is your plan to engage your gifts more in the future? What seeds remain inside you to be nurtured and developed? How can your life give more glory to our Creator?

Record your answers to the questions, look ahead and plan to deliberately walk more fully in your purpose beginning today! It is by design that you live a life where your steps are ordered.
