What Are You Missing?

What_are_you_missing_MapsAndLanterns.orgDo you see the whole picture, or is something missing? What are you missing? Are you in a situation that is difficult for you to understand? Are you wondering why you are dealing with the same issue, over and over again? Are you at that point where you really don’t understand what it is all about? Do you see the fear, the pain, the lack, and you are trying to get beyond those four letter words that have manifested themselves as mountains in your life you can clearly see?

I have found myself in that place of knowing, knowing that what I see cannot be the entire picture. I have been trapped in the maybe, the might be, and the what if. When I get beyond that situation, when I get unstuck, I realize that I was missing something. I have written down all of the contingencies, looked at past experiences and tried to draw on what I thought was the answer only to find that at least one of the pieces to the puzzle was missing.

Many times my epiphany comes in the form of hindsight, which is said to be 20/20. When I finally get the solution, fill in the missing frame or link the pieces together I realize that God in His infinite, grace and mercy worked it out. It may not be when I thought, or how I thought it would be worked out, yet when I can see to the end I see His hand.

Not only can I see His hand, but I can also see that His hand was in plain sight. More and more I have learned to take joy in the fact that when it appears there is no way out, or there is something missing I have learned to ask God to show me what I am missing.

I have asked Him sincerely from my heart. He is not a God that wants us to flounder, make missteps and fall in the ditch. However, because we have our own freewill we can, and do, go about our lives without asking for His input. He directs us to seek Him first and His way of being and doing right. He then adds everything we need.

Our loving Father also informs us that if we seek we shall find Him by seeking with all of our heart. That deep heartfelt seeking yields results. As we yield our hearts humbly to Him in secret He promises to reward us openly. He is a loving and giving Father.

Have you experienced His loving direction? Have you been shown a way out where there appears to be no way? Are you in a situation at this moment that appears to have no logical, reasonable end, no desirable outcome?

Do you feel the fear and stress related to impending doom? Are you feeling helpless? Are you feeling hopeless? Are you doing the same thing, getting the same result, and then not understanding what you need to do? What are you missing? Seek God for the answers.

God is so loving that He will allow us to get an understanding to gain wisdom, a commodity more precious than gold.

As an educator I have experienced situations where students thought that they had an answer only to discover they did not know, what it was that they did not know.

God is the Omnipotent one. He has all of the answers to the questions we do not even know enough to ask. When we seek Him first He provides us with gentle guidance. He is the solution to all of our problems. He works with each of us on a one-to-one basis. He is the greatest special needs teacher.

If you fail to reach out to Him, to seek Him, you lack all of the pieces of the puzzle. When we fail to make a habit of seeking Him first we are missing something that His divine guidance can illuminate. Something hiding in plain sight.

Ever tried to complete an intricate jigsaw puzzle without knowing what the final image was to be and find you did not have all of the pieces? You may be able to figure out the image anyway. You may be able to get the job done. However, the frustration and time lost certainly was increased because of what was missing. What are you missing?

The odyssey of life in which we are engaged, has far greater consequences for us and those around us than an amusing pastime. Why not take advantage of those tools available to us? Seek the missing pieces. What are you missing?
